A Missionary’s Dream Comes True

Pastor Jan Michael Prieto sensed the calling for missions after a dream that showed him his future. During his teen years at the age of 16, he knew it was God calling him to be a pastor and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “The preparation for becoming a pastor and missionary came through a dream. The man in the dream told me I would preach God’s word. There were times the Lord would always communicate with me in these dreams for a specific task. This gave me the urge to advance His Kingdom.”

Just at 17 years of age, the missionary pastor began preaching in 2007. Raised in a Catholic background, the minister had an experience that gave him a yearning for the things of the Lord and to learn of Him. He said, “During my high -school days, one pastor shared the gospel message and I received this message. On this particular day, I started listening to God’s word and studying God’s word.”

Pastor Prieto was inspired to activate the call to be a pastor when he began having a burden for lost souls and a desire to help them have a spiritual understanding. Along with sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, he wanted to assist others materially and financially. In 2013, Jan Michael started Christian Church Mission in the Philippians under a tree and from there on the pastor impacted more lives.

All ministries face challenges at some point during their journeys. “The challenges that I had on the mission field were the risk of attacks from people who were against the word of God, having finances for the mission for travel expense and food, the risk of terrorist attacks and snakes in the jungle. The lowest point of our ministry was when we were hit by an earthquake and typhoon last year.”

There were times of discouragement that Pastor Jan Michael experienced. God’s presence and constant reminder of His call helped him to continue on. “Yes, there were times that I was discouraged. I overcame those times, through the presence of God, the burden and His word that always reminded me to advance and not be dismayed.”

The favorite scriptures of the missionary, are Matthew 11:28 and Mark 11:24. “In the mission, I enjoy when the villagers receive and offer some native snacks to us.” Every aspiring and emerging missionary or pastor needs encouragement in times of difficulties and obstacles. He said, “I encourage them not to give up no matter what. I don’t know them and I don’t know what situations they are facing, but God is faithful in His promises. We faced a lot because we gave up everything for the gospel, but God used anyone and anything to accomplish His task to us.”

Christian Church Mission supplies bibles to persons in their native language, rice to feed those without and clothes to those who are struggling. Pastor Jan Michael holds crusades, bible studies and works with other churches. Music Review: Redemption by Kwest

copy-of-kwest-cover-1

Introduction: The intro gives a compelling upbeat of why the listener should listen to the message of the song. Titled song ‘LOVE’, briefly gives you an idea of the tune being about God’s love and how no other love compares to it.

Melody & Rhythm: The melody and rhythm are of a speedy paced nature and the instruments that are apart of the melody beautifully combines together.

Vocals: The singer’s vocals are smooth and powerful at the same time.

Instrumental & Digital Effects: The drums stand out in the background and enhances the song’s sound.

Structure of the Song: I think that the song was organized very well and neat. The track has been recorded with order and flows smoothly throughout the entire song.

Performance & Song Potential: I believe that the overall song is excellent and has been written, sung and recorded professionally. Love has the potential to reach a larger audience and to hit the top of the music charts.

5 Lessons From Ruth

castle-valley-500241_960_720

The book of Ruth is an amazing story of redemption and love. In the bible, Kinsman – Redeemer was a protection law that was in place for the welfare of the poor from being taken advantage of and from the wealthy taking away property that came from a people(community). The Kinsman – Redeemer is a reflection that God will redeem Israel from their suffering and the injustices and that Jesus is a Savior for humankind and will come back to conquer every evil deed . Below are some highlighted lessons on the book of Ruth to consider.

1) It’s better to be in a famine and under God’s protection, then to have a feast and step outside of God’s direction. When Elimelech and his wife Naomi(along with two sons) left Judah to stay in Moab,  they stepped outside of God’s direction. Moab was a land in the bible where people worshipped false gods and idols.

2) Running from trouble brings added trouble when we are outside the will of God. In Ruth 1, it mentions that Elimelech(Naomi’s husband) died and later on  Mahlon and Chilion(Naomi’s sons) died. There are always negative consequences from making a choice to be outside the will of God.

3) Faithfulness always ignites breakthrough. Ruth went into the field to gather from the harvest. God used Boaz to protect, provide and be generous to Ruth. Ruth stayed with her mother – in – law Naomi and went in the field and miraculous things erupted from that.

4) When you look out for someone else and allow God to work through you for their blessing, bitterness will dissipate. Naomi who was bitter decided to let go of the bitterness and  she guided Ruth in how to go to Boaz.

5) To travel from grief to restoration it requires trust, faith and obedience. Ruth had to trust that after the death of her husband that this was not the end of her story. In addition, she had to believe that God would turn her situation around and she had to follow the instructions she was given from her mother – in – law and take action from her trust and faith.
